The Cotton Famine Road
FIND OUT MORE
In the depths of the Pennines lies The Cotton Famine Road, walked by two men, guitars slung across backs. Their journey, while seeped with an intrinsic nu-folk infusion, clearly touches the roots of Americana. Their songs, lyrically intense; juxtapose relationships, nature and observations about human frailties. Lyrically poised between melancholic and celebratory; their melodies offer an alternate vision of hope and ultimately faith.
The CFR are eager for this opportunity to highlight their not inconsiderable talent. They present their own material from EPs spanning several years.
Their music includes real foot stompers which immediately grab the audience’s attention; finding everyone quickly embroiled in the twin guitar or banjo acoustic sound and soaring vocals; inducing much crowd interaction. Clapping, stomping and chorus accompaniments usually follow The Cotton Famine Road, as an endearing familiarity of their songs proves alluring for new audiences.
There’s stage interaction aplenty between Learmont and Connor, with the duo becoming a live force to be reckoned with.
